Chocolate box indeed.

Over the next few days we visited the Kinzigtal valley at the heart of the Black Forest. It’s a beautiful area with the Kinzig river and a handful of pretty towns and villages that looked nice to visit.

After a quick supermarket visit and a van service we’re all set for the next few days.

First stop is Shiltach, we managed to bag a space in the very pleasant motorhome parking area by the river. It was free which is always a bonus!

It’s a hot one so we nestled Heulwen in the shade and set about the important stuff, lunch, falafel salad and a delicious pretzel, perfect for humous dipping.

Healthy…

We spent the afternoon exploring the town, it was lovely, exactly what we expected a Black Forest town to look like.

We followed a signposted walk around the town which led us up to a hill. The view from the top was brilliant and gave us a fabulous panorama over the rooftops. There was also a cool old wooden covered bridge at the top.

A lovely old covered bridge.

Back into the village we decided to treat ourselves to cake and tea, why not, we are on holidays!! Feeling suitably refreshed we randomly had to buy some new bath towels, luckily there was a homewares shop!

Back to the the van and we set off for a new spot for the evening. We plumped for a spot near Gengenbach at a playing field. There was only one other van there and we had a lovely walk along the river before eating and settling down for the evening.
