Lake Geneva, Switzerland and traffic jams.

After our gorgeous cycle in Divonne we set off along the shores of Lake Geneva. It was a lovely route hugging the water and passing through a handful of nice small towns.

Lakeside stops

What amazed us was that every time we stopped along the shore and parked up, it was free. Some of the spots were prime view locations but no charge at all! We have a lot to learn in the UK!!!

Me trying to work out how much we paid for two cold drinks! The parking maybe free…

Later in the morning before heading away from the Lake we stopped for a picnic at a glorious spot. It was busy but very pleasant.

Picnic time!

I don’t know whether it was the tasty sandwich and fresh fruit or the shock of the cost of the earlier cold drinks we had but we decided to jump through Switzerland and head up early to the Black Forest area.

We set a course for Basel, skirting Lac du Neuchatel and then as we neared Germany we got stuck in a major traffic jam. Google was adding another 45mins to our already long day. Engine off, gas on for the fridge and relax along with everyone else stuck!!!!

As luck would have it we only got delayed by 45 mins or so and as we drove on thankfully it didn’t look serious just s few broken down cars and a lorry.

After a long day we decided on a Park4night stop in Bad Sackingen, which was just across the Rhine, we’d made it too Germany!!!

A beautiful lake at Bad Sackingen.
Lakeside trail.
Wild strawberries from the surrounding forest.
Heulwen the b634 back in her spiritual home!!!

We had a very peaceful night, a lovely morning walk around the lake and then headed into town to get provisions. We love a good supermarket, Germany seems to love vegetarians, there was loads of stuff, vegan, this and that, gorgeous rye bread and lovely fresh fruit and vegetables. Happy stocked up campers!!
