Trees, trees and yes more trees!!!
Some of you will know that one-quarter of the Hymertrails gang is a Forest Ranger and that I love trees. So at any opportunity, I’ll steer Hank and the rest of the gang into the woods. After leaving Skagen it was time to head south and a stop off at Rold Skov, Denmark’s largest forest, yes please!!
We arrived in Rebild around late afternoon and searched out a park4night spot to hole up for the evening, as ever it turned out to be a great picnic spot with lots of tables, rubbish bins and a lovely forest walk.
The following morning was bright and sunny so we drove the 5 mins to the Rebild Park Center, picked up some great information on walks and the wider forest before filling a rucksack or two and heading off.

We followed a section of the longer 10km Rebild Park trail, only 4km, Tilly being nearly 13 won’t go too far these days, but nevertheless, it was a spectacular 4km. I think I told Claire numerous times it was one of the best trails I’d ever experienced. It was just glorious, lots of beautiful views, varied landscapes and plenty of up and down to keep it interesting for us and the girls.

Back to trusty Hank and it was, unfortunately, time to move on to find a lunch spot. Result, another Danish forest picnic area, I don’t think we’ve been anywhere in the world with more picnic areas and all of them spotlessly clean and well cared for. Lunch done, time for a relaxing hour or so before another walk, we love vanlife…

Walkies time and another forest trail to explore, this time it turned out to be another cracker. It had it all, trees, meadows, a little lake and a cute cabin

Rold skov (forest) has turned out to be a special place, it was achingly beautiful, had a huge amount of outdoorsy stuff to do, great walks, picnic area and of course lots of lovely trees…
Not wanting to leave, it was nearly 6pm, but checking the weather forecast for the Danish Lake District about 1 hr away we realised we had a window of opportunity of a day of so before some rubbish weather was due, at the lakes so decision made and off we headed southbound once more.

Catch us soon at the spectacular (hopefully) Danish Lake District, till next time…
